Repaying Your Loans

Finding Your Federal Loan Information

If you're not sure about the federal loans you have, you can check the U.S. Department of Education's National Student Loan Data System (NSLDS) by logging into your account on studentaid.gov. It can provide information on your federal loans, including type, amount borrowed, outstanding principal and interest, and the total amount of all your loans.

Your federal loans will have been assigned to a loan servicer, which will be your contact point about payments, deferments and other information. If you don't know who your servicer is, you can find that out on the U.S. Department of Education website.
